First, and for the record, those of you who know understand that there is never, and will never be a competition between Sweet Potato Pie and pumpkin pie! I repeat -- There is no competition. When I was 17 years old, I attended the funeral of a friend, which was followed by a repast at their home. I can vividly recall a sliver of joy entering the room in the midst of the sorrow, when a lovely family friend arrived with a pie case filled with freshly homemade Sweet Potato Pies. There was laughter, and "let me get a plate," and "cut me a big slice," and "she makes the best pie," followed by a soft, comforting silence as the pies were enjoyed by all. Sweet Potato Pie when made with loving and experienced hands is magical. I have witnessed (and even made) the magic of Sweet Potato Pie on occasion! And trust me, if there is Sweet Potato Pie in the room, there is an occasion taking place. Whether served at the end of a Sunday Family Meal, a celebratory Holiday Dinner, or a Repast, the aromatic scent, smooth texture, and refined taste of well-made Sweet Potato Pie has the ability to evoke joy, inspire song, yield spontaneous dancing, renew friendships, hit replay on a fond memory, and even soothe a sorrowful heart. During this 2020 Holiday Season, I'm going to share some Sweet Potato Pie with those I hold near and dear.

There is truly nothing like good Sweet Potato Pie!! It’s good breakfast, lunch or dinner. I will miss my mother’s Sweet Potato Pie this Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is incomplete without Sweet Potato Pie, so I’ll start making my many calls to my mother in an attempt to make a Sweet Potato Pie that will somewhat resemble hers. Great article Claire, I should have placed an order earlier. 😐

Thank God you didn’t tell our sweet potato pie story🤣🤣. Something about the look and smell of a sweet potato pie when baked makes everything okay.
